Winter Flowering Species Thrive in Mild Winter

Jan 27, 2014

We have all had sufficient rain now, but the mild winter means that winter flowering species are giving good displays

Well we’ve certainly had more than enough rain, but the mild weather means that many winter flowering species are doing their thing happily without being scorched by east winds or hard frosts. The following are particularly attractive at the moment: Alnus incana ‘Pendula’, Chimonanthus fragrans, Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’, Lonicera fragrantissima, Mahonia x intermedia ‘Lionel Fortescue’, Mahonia japonica ‘Bealei’, Prunus incisa ‘Praecox’, Prunus subhirtella ‘Autumnalis’. We have stocks of all these on the nursery at the moment, so do come and browse during our usual opening hours. Or telephone to place your order
